EroRate.com was a community platform dedicated to showcasing, rating, and celebrating AI-generated erotic art. Founded in 2022 following the release of Stable Diffusion v1, we created a space where enthusiasts could share their creations and community members could engage with them through our unique Elo-based rating system. Almost five million duels were judged by visitors across our collection of tens of thousands of images.
However, as time has passed, the landscape surrounding AI-generated adult content has changed. And not for the better.
Governments are now threatening websites with massive fines unless we force users to surrender their personal data through "age verification" systems. Protecting minors is crucial, but there are far better methods for achieving this. They could have simply required age verification at the browser level instead of collecting our users' data. Or block access based on the standard metadata we provide that marks our site as adult content. Yet instead, they demand invasive data collection. It's tyranny dressed up as child protection. We refused to become a surveillance tool.
And then those same governments bend over backwards to protect social media giants that are openly fueling the rise of neo-fascism. The last straw was for them to turn a blind eye to Musk's Grok AI generating non-consensual explicit images of any image online, including even images of minors.
We built EroRate.com in 2022 believing that AI-generated erotic art could be ethical and a genuine alternative to an exploitative industry. Instead, we watched the same technology get monetized by billionaires to create illegal deepfakes. The governments that could have protected us from this instead want to force us to spy on their behalf or be fined into oblivion.
